Wayne Bird
Wayne “Skip” Bird is a NASA Heliophysics Ambassador, and presently the Outreach Director/Night Sky Network Guru for the Westminster Astronomical Society, an outreach fanatic (definition of fanatic: someone who will not change his mind AND will not change the subject). He is also an Astronomy Educator for Home Schools, Scouts and anyone else who gets to close. He is the world-renowned author of “Night Flying Astronomy Bird” articles (OK, maybe world-renowned is being a little modest), and the World’s Greatest Dad — he has the button to prove it, But enough about me.
The Westminster Astronomical Society, Inc. mission statement is to “Enlighten citizens of the surrounding area to what is above their heads, bring people together that share an interest in astronomy, and answer their questions.” We welcome anyone from age 5 to age 85, with experience ranging from novice to expert. We have many in-house astronomical projects to assist you in your quest for celestial knowledge. From just using a pair of binoculars to the biggest “light bucket”, we have projects that will not only teach you about the cosmos but give you recognition for your efforts!
