Christopher L Bennett

Christopher L. Bennett, a lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, holds bachelor’s degrees in physics and history from the University of Cincinnati. His passion for science and science fiction began at age five when he discovered Star Trek. His first published works were original novelettes in Analog Science Fiction and Fact, but he is best known for his acclaimed Star Trek novels. These include Star Trek: Ex Machina—named one of the favorite Star Trek novels by the 2009 film’s screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman—Star Trek: The Next Generation novels The Buried Age and Greater Than the Sum, Star Trek: Titan novels Orion’s Hounds and Over a Torrent Sea, the Star Trek: Department of Temporal Investigations series, and the Star Trek: Enterprise series Rise of the Federation. He also contributed to the Star Trek: Voyager short novel Places of Exile in Star Trek: Myriad Universes: Infinity’s Prism.

In addition to his Star Trek works, Christopher has written two Marvel Comics novels: X-Men: Watchers on the Walls and Spider-Man: Drowned in Thunder. His first original novel, Only Superhuman (Tor Books), was named SF/Fantasy Debut of the Month for October 2012 by Library Journal.

Christopher is the only author to have stories in all four Star Trek anniversary anthologies, with contributions to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Prophecy and Change, Star Trek: Voyager: Distant Shores, Star Trek: Constellations, and Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Sky’s the Limit. His short fiction also appears in collections such as Star Trek: Mirror Universe: Shards and Shadows, Star Trek: Corps of Engineers: Aftermath, and Star Trek: Mere Anarchy.

His original short fiction has been published in Analog Science Fiction and Fact, Galaxy’s Edge, and various online magazines. He has contributed articles to Star Trek Magazine and has released two short story collections, Hub Space: Tales from the Greater Galaxy and Crimes of the Hub, through Mystique Press.

Expanding the universe of Only Superhuman, Christopher has published additional stories through eSpec Books, including the collection Among the Wild Cybers: Tales Beyond the Superhuman and the duology Arachne’s Crime and Arachne’s Exile, which are also available as a single volume, The Arachne Omnibus.
