Dr. Willie Yee

Dr. Willie Yee started in magic late in life. As a Red Cross volunteer, he wanted to provide something to the residents of disaster shelters that would give them an experience other than misery. His first teacher was Terry Morgan of Catskill NY, with a lineage that traces back to Harry Houdini. He subsequently trained at the world-renowned McBride Magic and Mystery School in Las Vegas. Dr. Yee has performed as a Star Trek character “S’kai” at FarPoint and Shore Leave for the past several years, and at science educational events.

Dr. Yee is a retired psychiatrist, amateur astronomer, and past president of the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association. He has received numerous awards for astronomical observing and outreach activities He presently is a Solar System Ambassador, a program supported by NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA.

Dr. Yee has been a Red Cross Volunteer for 13 years, active in sheltering, mental health, community relations, and teaching. His other interests include bicycling, jazz, and history.
