Michael Jan Friedman
Michael Jan Friedman is the author of 80 books, both fiction and non-fiction, with nearly half of them set within the Star Trek universe.
In 1992, Friedman wrote Reunion, the first Star Trek: The Next Generation hardcover novel, which introduced the crew of the Stargazer, Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s first command. Due to its popularity, Reunion inspired multiple Stargazer stories in both prose and comic book form, including a six-novel original series.
Friedman has also contributed to a variety of licensed universes, including Aliens, Predator, Wolf Man, Lois and Clark, DC Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes, and Wishbone. Eleven of his works, such as Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Ghost Hunting (co-written with SciFi’s Ghost Hunters), have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. His novel adaptation of the Batman & Robin movie was, for a time, the #1 bestselling book in Poland.
In addition to his work as an author, Friedman has worked in network and cable television, radio, business magazines, and the comic book industry, writing nearly 180 comic stories. Notably, he co-created the Darkstars series with artist Larry Stroman for DC Comics and the Outlaws limited series with Luke McDonnell. He also co-wrote the story for the Star Trek: Voyager episode “Resistance,” which featured Joel Grey.
In 2011, Friedman co-founded Crazy 8 Press, an imprint where he and other authors publish their most passionate and creative works. Crazy 8 Press now offers over 70 original titles.
